Sciaky have supplied the automobile industry for more than 70 years.
The automobile industry is a major user of resistance welding machines. A typical car will have its body made with 3000 to 5000 spot welds, plus many projection welds, and perhaps some seam welding. Originally, most welds were manually applied, with welding guns and standard machines. Today, depending on the facility, between 60 and 90 % are automatically made with robot welding guns or multiweld machines.

Much of an automobile is now made by specialised Tier 1, 2, or 3 suppliers of modules or major assemblies, which are fitted in the final assembly plant. Resistance welding remains at the heart of the assembly process, with the choice of tools dependant on the production environment, production rate, and the nature of the component.

Sciaky analyse the production objectives and each customer’s objectives to recommend a solution which may include robot cells, multiwelders, standard spot or projection welders – or a combination of any of them.

The solution will bear in mind the component, the production rate, and the economics of the solution. There is no standard solution.
