Sciaky Spot-Weld-1

In this tool the four main components are clamped together prior to welding.
There is a large “U” pressing, a small “U” pressing
and two side cheeks to connect them.
Eighteen welds join the four components together.
When the operator presses the start button, the door rises to shut, the clamps
close, and the robot moves in to make its welds. When it has finished this cycle,
the robot goes to its home position, the clamps open, and the door automatically
opens.
Sciaky Spot-Weld-1

In this tool a reinforcer is welded into the previously welded main assembly.
The main assembly is located on pins and datums (as in the first tool) and the
reinforcing channel is located and clamped using two hand on, air confirm, air
off clamps.
The robot comes in and makes 16 welds.
The reinforcer obscures some of the welds from the previous operation, hence
the need for two tools.
While this tool is being unloaded and reloaded with fresh components, the robot
is welding on the other tool, and vice versa.
One operator can run both tools on two robot cells.
